This piece is a nice balance to the book I recently finished "Flesh and Machine" (Rodney A. Brooks). I enjoyed reading both. There's probably no topic that can be as fascinating at this moment in time than the engagement between human and the machines that we'd like to think serve us.

I called a friend the other day, and the first several minutes of our phone conversation was him letting me know how difficult it is to keep in touch with me, since I don't tweet or Facebook yet.

I would hope you'd know me a little better by now. I'm still running on my inferior Dell with Windows Vista, and I think I'll keep it that way even though I could succumb to the hipster instinct that tells me to buy the Apple. That is not to say that you are in any way morally bankrupt for owning one. Our constitutions vary significantly from what I remember.

A pool game can be arranged, though I am befallen with wedding goings-on this weekend as I must serve as groomsman to a friend. However, I would like to hear your disagreements. You are more fluent in this language than I am.

Gant,

I disagree with most of your assertions on both logical and technical grounds. I suggest you hit the off button on your hipster Apple laptop (you do have a hipster Apple laptop by now, right?), unplug yourself from the Matrix, and duel me (in a game of billiards) to settle this feud.
