To the End
Today I had to travel out to the far west side of Shanghai, near the outskirts of the city, to take care of some business for a project I am working on. When I got to the place, it reminded me of something I’ve intended to do on each of my 3-month stints in Shanghai, but have never gotten around to doing. With as widely spread out as this city is, I thought it would be fun to take the train to the end of each line (there are 9 altogether, but one is a circle) and see what there is to see at those more remote parts of the city.
I’ve decided that for the month or so that I have left in Shanghai on this stay, I will try to accomplish that. I’ll take the train to the end of the line in every direction that I can, and see what I find there. I may not finish all of the stops this time around, but I’ll see if I can’t get close.
And I may, at the end of each line, find that there is nothing much to see. But I kind of doubt that. And anyway, even that is something worth knowing. So, you can watch for my updates here as I try to travel to all the ends of Shanghai.

Sounds fun! I remember doing kind of the same thing many, many, years back in Japan, and was amazed how the scenery, and even “culture” changed along the way!
I think it will be fun too. It is a whole different kind of chaos when you move from the center of the city to its outskirts.
that sounds like my kind of adventure! I look forward to your reports.
I think it will be fun!
