“Mourners” leaving offerings at Google’s HQ in China.
This looks very like the offerings for the dead seen in Chinese culture. One of the voices of the “mourners” says, “We ought to burn some incense.”

Tell me more. just what is going on there?
Well, the items put on the sign outside of the Google offices here look very like the way things are offered to the dead at funerals and on memorial occasions in Chinese culture. The media’s representation obviously assumes it is a show of support. It could, however, just as easily be seen as sarcasm.
Either way, I think it shows that those on the ground see this as the death of Google.cn, as if the situation is beyond salvaging.
Hm.
