Black Birds

Empty fishing nets extend heavenward 
outstretched arms contemplating miracles 
with announcements of each containment plan 
expectations soar as copters flit around 
circling diving ascending hunting their prey 
oil.  While other birds grounded 
look to the skies from the beach 
they too contemplate miracles 
with heavy-laden hopes  
that plummets into the sea 
glistening with rainbow colors 
a cruel unsympathetic contrast 
to their tedious black
