in the tear of your sweater
air sweeps through to touch you.
and you love the touch
of cool molecules against skin.
you whimper in delight, sweeten
honeydew slice smile into spring,
breathe these eyes into an afternoon.
how it’s been long since i loved in a morning.
around your eyelash wave
water winks through glass to sink.
and you adore that soak
of warm molecules within pupils.
you blink long in frames. lift
your lids: here, still, our flesh lay
curving words legible from your breaths.
how it’s been long since i loved in a morning.
on the back of your neck
my warm hand curls to conform.
you crease into a love letter —
scripture kept distant from me.
you unfold in seconds, whisper
austere secret, than roll back into scented
papyrus for ancient lovers to translate.
how it’s been long since i loved in a morning
